4th Grade

Ms. Garroutte:

My name is Karen Garroutte.  I love working in education!  This will be my 13th year teaching; I have been a teacher in the district since 2004.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Arizona State University.  I live in San Tan Valley with my husband and two daughters. When I am not teaching we like to watch movies, hike, swim, and spend time together.  I look forward to a great year in 4th grade.

Ms. Shitara:

I grew up in South Dakota. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Biology from
Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching English to
Speakers of other Languages (TESL) from the University of Nevada, Reno. I became a teacher
because I love to see the doors that open with an education. I have lived and taught English in
Nevada, Texas, Ecuador, and Japan. In Japan, I started an English school with my husband. I
also have two daughters. My hobbies are reading, hiking, and traveling. I have a deep respect
for teaching and learning, and I love the energy that children bring to the process. I am happy to
be a bulldog! Let’s work hard toward a bright future together!

Mr. Kemper:

Hello! My name is Zachary Kemper and I am super excited to be a Bulldog this year! I am from a small town in Ohio called Montezuma. I attended Eastern Michigan University and received my degree in Elementary Education. My hobbies involve sports, hanging out with my friends, and playing with my pet rabbit. I am super excited to get to work and have a great year!
